SWEET PETE

Actor Peter Fonda passed away this week.

In a piece in the Los Angeles Times, Fonda is credited with helping John Lennon compose “She Said, She Said.” At a party together Fonda kept telling John Lennon “I know what it’s like to be dead.”

This version is a Matthew Sweet cover.

PRIORITY RECORDS

Silver Jews perform “Poor, Fair, Good.”

Sadly, David Berman, front for the band Silver Jews, has passed at the relatively young age of 52-years-old.

According to reports following Berman’s passing, the name of the band Silver Jews could refer to “silver jewelry” or a “light haired jew.”

History may not link the shadow occurrence of another type of “silver jew”, scumbag go zillionaire, Jeff Epstein. He committed suicide in a Manhattan Jail cell this weekend, after a life spent filled with more money than sense.

The distinction in the coinciding deaths of Berman and Epstein, is not quite in the same league as when author Aldous Huxley passed on the same day as JFK was assassinated.

I first learned of Berman’s work through his collaboration with Stephen Malkmus/Pavement. This earthy song from the album “Tanglewood Number’s” is one of my favorites. RIP DB
